About The Under Eye

How we research, what we test, and how we make money — fully transparent.

Who's behind this

The Under Eye is edited by Mira Lane, with research support from a network of skincare-obsessed contributors. We focus exclusively on under-eye care because it's the most-asked, most-confused, most-shouty corner of skincare — and the one where ingredient-led recommendations make the biggest difference.

How we test and rank

Every product on this site is evaluated against four signals:

  1. Verified retailer reviews. We pull customer reviews live from Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, YesStyle, Olive Young, and Dermstore — including 1-3 star reviews. Every quote is attributed by reviewer name and star rating.
  2. Ingredient evidence. We rank ingredients by peer-reviewed studies, not marketing claims. Caffeine for puffiness, niacinamide for pigmentation, PDRN for renewal — we link the studies.
  3. Retailer breadth. Sold at four retailers ranks higher than sold at one — it signals brand health and makes the product easier to actually buy.
  4. Editor testing. Our editors test products on real under-eyes for 2-4 weeks before publishing.

How we make money

The Under Eye is reader-supported. When you click an affiliate link and buy a product, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We're transparent about which retailers we have affiliate relationships with — currently Amazon Associates (lekkerandco-20). Sephora, Ulta, YesStyle, and Cult Beauty affiliations are pending approval.

What we never do: sponsored posts written as reviews, fabricated customer quotes, fake star ratings, fake "low stock" countdowns, or paid ranking. If a brand pays us for placement, it's labeled as an ad. Period.

How to reach us

Spotted an error, a fabricated-looking review, or a brand we should cover? Email Mira directly. We update articles as products change — every review carries the last-updated date, and we link to the dated retailer review page so you can verify quotes yourself.
